秋の宮スキー場 秋田県湯沢市

Akinomiya was a ski area in the neighbourhood of the same name in the southern region of Yuzawa City in Akita Prefecture. Since closing, the ski lift has been removed. An annual snow festival, complete with tiny igloos and fireworks, is held annually at the location.

Further Information

  • The Akinomiya neighbourhood of Yuzawa City is written as 秋ノ宮
     
  • Akinomiya Ski Area was listed using those characters in a guidebook from 1996
     
  • However, a sign by the pair lift of the ski area itself had the name 秋の宮スキー場
     
  • As well as the pair lift, there might have also been a simple surface lift
     
  • According to old documents city documents, the ski area was officially permanently closed in 2011, but it appears to have not been operating in years before then
     
  • The ski lift has been removed
     
  • The Akinomiya Onsen-kyo Kadaru Yuki Matsuri 秋の宮温泉郷かだる雪まつり snow festival was held on the slopes of the ski area
     
  • The 25th such festival was held on 4th February 2023
     
  • It featured 3,000 mini kamakura igloos and a firework display
