柏原スキー場 長野県信濃町

Kashiwabara was a ski area located on the slopes of Isemiyama in Shinano Town, close to the border with Myoko City in Niigata Prefecture. It was originally known as Isemiyama. The Joshinetsu Expressway now runs through what was once the ski slopes of Kashiwabara. This ski area opened in 1963 and closed in 1993.

Further Information

  • Kashiwabara was on the southern slopes of the 758m Isemiyama  伊勢見山
     
  • At the time of opening the ski area was known as Isemiyama  伊勢見山スキー場
     
  • It is unclear when the name was changed but, according to the town website, it was later known as Kashiwabara  柏原スキー場
     
  • The ski area closed in 1993
     
  • Kashiwabara was the name of the village
     
  • In 1955 Kashiwabara Village merged with Fujisato Village  富士里村  to create Shinano Village  信濃村
     
  • In 1956 Shinano Village merged with a few more villages to become Shinano Town  信濃町
     
  • The Joshinetsu Expressway  上信越自動車道  now slices through what was the ski area
     
  • The poet Kobayashi Issa  小林一茶  was born in Kashiwabara
     
  • Here is what Wikipedia says about him:
     
  • "Kobayashi Issa was a Japanese poet and lay Buddhist priest of the Jodo Shinshu sect known for his haiku poems and journals. He is better known as simply Issa. He is regarded as one of the four haiku masters in Japan, along with Basho, Buson and Shiki"

Just over 2km from the Shinanomachi IC exit of the Joshinetsu Expressway.
About 1km from Kurohime Station on the Kita Shinano line.
