Ashizawa Kogen was a ski area close to the central area of Tsugawa in Aga Town, northern Niigata Prefecture. Little information can be found about the ski area, including whether there was a lift and opening and closing dates. Ashizawa Kogen Herbal Park can now be found at the location.

Further Information

  • Ashizawa Kogen was located in the Tsugawa area of Aga Town
    　
  • When the ski area was open, Tsugawa was an independent town
    　
  • In April 2005 Tsugawa Town  津川町, Kanose Town 鹿瀬町, Kamikawa Village 上川村 and Mikawa Village  三川村  merged to form Aga Town 阿賀町
    　
  • The Ashizawa Kogen Herbal Park  芦沢高原ハーバルパーク  can now be found where the ski slope used to be
    　
  • Very little confirmed information about this ski area can be found, even after various conversations with locals and staff at the Herbal Park
    　
  • It appears that the ski slope went from just above the main building at the top of the Herbal Park and down to some tennis courts
    　
  • One person recalled there being rope tow kind of lift, but another said there was no lift, and they remember walking up the gentle slope
    　
  • Old aerial photographs of the area do not really reveal any further information
    　
  • Ski lift or no lift, it did have an official name and is valid for a listing!
