Shirakabadaira Gelande was a ski area in the southern region of Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture. It was located just across the road from the famous Naeba ski resort. It was owned by and operated as part of Naeba. The lower pair lift came right down to the side of the Route 17 road with no room for any parking. The western-facing courses of the ski area overlooked Naeba and were lined either side by large and somewhat imposing ‘resort mansion’ buildings. Those buildings are still in place.

Further Information

  • During the 'ski boom' period, Shirakabadaira Gelande was known as one of the 'escape areas' when Naeba was extremely busy
    　
  • A ticket that was valid at Shirakabadaira Gelande and the nearby Asagai Gelande was available (as well as one that also included nearby Mikuni when that was open)
    　
  • There was a narrow connecting course between those two areas
    　
  • The lower single lift was removed while the ski area was still open
    　
  • After closing the other two lifts were also removed
