Kakumanji

角万寺スキー場 新潟県十日町市

Kakumanji was a small ski area located in what used to be Kawanishi Town but is now part of Tokamachi City in Niigata Prefecture. It opened in 1986 as a collaboration between volunteers, donors and the local town and was used mainly by local children. It is thought to have closed sometime in the mid 2000s.

Further Information

  • This ski area apparently came about as a collaboration between local volunteers, donors and the local town
     
  • It was mostly used by local children and families
     
  • The only remaining evidence of a ski area is a sign on the side of the base building that shows the name of the ski area in Japanese and the date of opening
     
  • The slope is by the side of the Chofukuji temple  長福寺
     
  • The Kawanishi Motorcross Course  川西モトクロス場  is located close by
     
  • The Niroku Koen Bunabayashi  二六公園ブナ林  beech forest can also be found by the side of the old ski slope
     
  • Kawanishi Town became part of Tokamachi City on 1st April 2005
